The PDL-100 is a manually operated resistive load bank with a rated load of 0 to 100 kW at 415 V, 50 or 60 Hz. It is rated for continuous duty and puts a controlled electrical load on a generator during testing. The elements are low-heat-emitting and metal-sheathed, with cooling fins, made from high-grade nickel resistance wire in U-type form.
Key features
- Load is set by hand with 8 switches for incremental steps, plus a rheostat for exact power setting between them.
- Built-in heavy-duty industrial fan blowers cool the elements and can run from the load bank itself or from an external supply.
- Heavy-duty casters give the unit mobility during generator load testing, so it can be positioned beside the set under test.
- Eye hooks on top are fitted for lifting the unit with suitable lifting equipment.
- Test AC voltage can fluctuate by ±15% at 50 Hz or 60 Hz, which suits a wide range of test voltages.
- Load cables terminate on a terminal block for convenient connection.

What it is for
A dummy load bank turns a generator's electrical output into heat, so a set can be run under a known load without connecting site equipment. The PDL-100 is used for generator load testing, with the operator stepping the load up and down by hand. Match the rating to the generator's kW output (its kVA rating multiplied by its power factor). The enclosure is for indoor use, so site the unit under cover, and have a licensed electrician make the load cable connections.
