Gas generators run on natural gas or LPG, so a home or business already on gas can have standby power with no diesel to store and no refuelling in the middle of an outage. Installed permanently and paired with an automatic transfer switch, a gas standby generator starts itself when the grid drops out and shuts down when mains power returns.
