825kVA Cummins Diesel Generator LG750C

The LG750C is a three phase diesel generator set powered by a Cummins KTA38G2B, a twelve cylinder, 37.5 litre, turbocharged and aftercooled engine running at 1500rpm. A Leroy Somer LSA49.3M8 brushless alternator with AVR supplies 415V at 50Hz. It is rated 750kVA / 600kW prime (PRP) and 825kVA / 660kW standby (ESP).

Key features

• The silenced canopy is galvanised and powder coated, with a noise level of 78.8dB(A) at 7 metres.
• Fork pockets in the heavy duty skid base allow forklift handling.
• The 1450 litre bunded tank gives 12 hours at 75% load, and the bund is designed to contain fuel leaks.
• A DeepSea 7420 MKII controller and a four pole circuit breaker are fitted, the breaker switching the neutral as well as the phases.
• A battery charger and isolator keep the starting battery charged and let it be disconnected for servicing.
• Harmonic distortion is under 5%, which suits sensitive electronic equipment.

Fuel use is 160 litres an hour at full load, 120 at 75% load and 83 at 50% load. Oil capacity is 135 litres and coolant capacity is 194 litres. PRP is continuous running at variable load, at an average load factor of 75% with 10% overload for one hour in 12. ESP is emergency supply at an average load factor of 85%, with no overload and a limit of 400 hours a year.

What it will run

The LG750C is a site-scale set, so the load schedule drives the sizing. Group the loads by type: motors and pumps, compressors and chillers, lighting and building services, control and data equipment. Add the running load of everything that operates together, then work out which motor starts hardest and whether staged starting or soft starters are needed. Share single phase loads evenly across the phases. Connection to site wiring should go through a changeover or transfer switch installed by a licensed electrician, and an electrician or engineer should assess the result.
