10.1kVA Isuzu Diesel Generator GS009-ETT-S

The GS009-ETT-S is a single phase diesel generator set rated at 9.2kVA prime and 10.1kVA standby (9.2kW and 10.1kW at a power factor of 1.0), supplying 240V at 50Hz. It is powered by an Isuzu 3TNV70, a three cylinder, water-cooled, four-cycle diesel running at 3000rpm, and drives a brushless alternator with AVR. Starting is electric, and a Mecc Alte GC250 controller provides manual or auto start with 2-wire remote start.

Key features

• Socket and hardwire operating modes let the same set supply loads plugged into its sockets or a fixed installation connected by hardwire.
• Automatic MEN switching is built in, so the multiple earthed neutral link is handled by the set.
• Low oil pressure and high coolant temperature shutdowns protect the engine, while over current, over and under voltage and over and under frequency protection and a shunt-trip main circuit breaker protect the generator.

The 40 litre tank gives about 10.5 hours of running at the prime rating, where consumption is about 3.7 litres an hour. Total harmonic distortion is 4% at no load and 7% at full load.

At 9.2kVA prime and 10.1kVA standby, the GS009-ETT-S typically suits worksite and workshop loads such as lighting, power tools, a pump or compressor and a few circuits of a small building. At 240V, the prime rating is about 38A and the standby rating about 42A (watts divided by 240). Motors in pumps, compressors and air conditioners draw several times their running current at start, so allow headroom for the largest motor. Check the compliance plate on each appliance for its running and starting watts, then add them up.
