4.5kVA Honda Petrol Generator GH4000H Hire Spec

The Honda GH4000H is a hire spec, single phase petrol generator with a 4.5kVA (4kW) output, powered by a Honda GX270 single cylinder engine, with an AC synchronous brushless alternator supplying 240V at 50Hz. It starts by recoil pull cord, and its two 15A outlets come with circuit breakers and RCD protection.

Key features

• Both 15A 240V outlets are rated IP66, meaning they are dust tight and protected against powerful water jets at the socket.
• Circuit breakers guard the outlets against overload, and the RCD cuts the supply if it detects earth leakage.

What it will run

The 4kW output (about 17A at 240V) typically covers a site office or small job: lighting, a pump, a fridge and a couple of power tools, as long as their running loads add up to less than the rating. A 15A outlet can supply about 3.6kW at 240V, so one heavy tool fits on one outlet with the rest on the other. Pumps, compressors, saws and grinders draw a surge at start, so allow headroom. The compliance plate on each appliance shows its rated watts or amps. Anything wired into a building must go through a changeover switch installed by a licensed electrician.
