500kVA Cummins Diesel Generator GCM450S

The GCM450S is a three phase, 415V, 50Hz diesel generator set powered by a Cummins QSZ13-G3, a six cylinder, 13 litre, turbocharged and aftercooled engine running at 1500 rpm. It is rated at 450kVA / 360kW prime power and 500kVA / 400kW standby power. The alternator is a brushless Mecc Alte ECO40-2S4A with an AVR.

At 360kW prime (400kW standby), the GCM450S typically suits the combined three phase demand of a large industrial site or building: production lines, chillers, big pumps and compressors, and building services. Specify it from a site load schedule rather than the nameplate, and have an electrician or engineer assess running loads, motor starting and balance across the phases. The compliance plate on each large motor gives its running and starting load. Prime power is for variable load at an average 75% load factor. Standby power is for emergency supply at an average 85% load factor, limited to 400 hours a year. A building is connected through a changeover switch installed by a licensed electrician.
