88kVA Cummins or Perkins Diesel Generator GC80S / GP80S

Two 1500rpm three phase diesel generator sets in the 88kVA class, custom-built in Australia, share this page: the Cummins-powered GC80S and the Perkins-powered GP80S. The GC80S runs a Cummins 4BTA3.9-G11, a four cylinder, 3.9 litre, turbocharged and aftercooled engine, driving a Stamford UC1224G brushless alternator with AVR at 415V and 50Hz. It is rated 80kVA / 64kW prime and 88kVA / 70kW standby.

Its standby rating is emergency supply at an average load factor of 85%, with no overload and a limit of 400 hours a year. Harmonic distortion on the GC80S is under 5%.

At 88kVA standby (80kVA prime), the GC80S typically covers the essential circuits of a workshop, pumping station, building site or large property: lighting, pumps, compressors, refrigeration and three phase machinery. Add up the running load of everything that operates together, then leave headroom for the starting surge of your largest motor, which can draw several times its running current. Check the compliance plate on each machine, and spread single phase loads across the phases.
