The ED8500KSRE-MINE is a Mine Spec single phase diesel generator with a maximum output of 8.5kVA at 0.8 power factor. A Kohler KD425 diesel engine drives a 9.5kVA-rated alternator at 230V, and the engine has electric start.
Key features
- A detachable fire extinguisher comes fitted, so the set carries its own fire response equipment.
- An emergency stop button shuts the set down fast, and a battery isolator switch disconnects the battery.
- Earth leakage protection comes from individual lockable RCD switches, fitted as standard.
- Its 34 L fuel tank is bunded to help contain spills, and the cap locks to secure the fuel.
- A centre point lifting bar is fitted for moving the set with lifting equipment.
- Two weatherproof 15 Amp outlets supply tools and lights.
The 34 L tank gives about 13.8 hours at 80% load, using about 2.46 L/h at that load; lighter loads use less fuel and run longer. Noise is 80 dBA at 7 m.
What it will run
At 8.5kVA and 0.8 power factor, the set gives about 6.8kW, which is about 28 amps in total. Typical loads are site lighting, hand tools, small pumps, a fridge and a workshop compressor within that figure. Motors draw several times their running load at start, so allow headroom for the largest motor and read the compliance plate on each appliance.
