6kVA ABLE Yanmar Low Profile Diesel Generator FP6LY

The FP6LY is a 6kVA single phase low profile diesel generator rated 5.5kVA (5.5kW) prime and 6kVA (6kW) standby at 240V, 50Hz and a power factor of 1.0. It is powered by a Yanmar 2TNV70-HGE, a two cylinder, water-cooled diesel running at 3000 rpm, and drives a two-pole brushless synchronous alternator with AVR. Starting is electric at 12 volts with the battery included, and protection is an IP67-enclosed RCD.

What it will run

At 5.5kW prime the FP6LY supplies about 23A at 240V, and at a power factor of 1.0 the kVA and kW figures are the same. Typically that suits lighting, fridges and freezers, a pressure pump, power tools and a small air conditioner, so long as the loads running together stay within the rating. A motor in a pump, compressor or air conditioner can draw several times its running current as it starts, so allow headroom for the largest one. The compliance plate on each appliance gives its running and starting power. To use it as home backup, have a licensed electrician install an inlet and changeover switch.
