6.8kVA Gentech Diesel Workstation WS160-14-10YSRDE

The WS160-14-10-YSRDE is a diesel workstation that runs four machines from one Yanmar L100N5 engine: a single phase 230V generator with a maximum output of 6.8kVA at 0.8 power factor, a 160 amp AC welder at a 60% duty cycle, a 14 CFM air compressor with a 50 L air tank and a 10 amp battery charger. The engine starts by recoil or electric start.

Key features

• One engine and one fuel supply drive the generator, welder, compressor and charger, so there is a single engine to fuel and maintain.
• The AC welder gives 160 amps at a 60% duty cycle, which means about six minutes of full-current welding in every ten.

Fuel use at 80% load is about 1.65 L/h, which gives about 3.3 hours from the 5.4 L tank. Output is through two 15 Amp plugs. No RCD is fitted as standard; an ELB IP56 32 Amp RCD is an optional accessory.

The generator side, at 6.8kVA and 0.8 power factor, gives about 5.4kW. It typically runs site lighting, a pump and power tools within that figure. Motors draw several times their running load at start, so read the compliance plate on each appliance. Compare each air tool's CFM demand with the compressor's 14 CFM.
