6kVA Kubota Diesel Generator GL6000 Mine Spec

The GL6000 Mine Spec is a single phase Kubota diesel generator with a Rated Output (COP) of 5.5kVA (5.5kW) at 240V and 50Hz. A Kubota Z482-EB two cylinder, vertical, water-cooled, 4-cycle diesel running at 3000 rpm is direct coupled to the alternator, with electric start and a 28 litre fuel tank.

Key features

• A factory-fitted residual current device protects the operator from electric shock and reduces the risk of electrical fires, and factory-fitted circuit breakers guard against large overloads.
• The engine stops automatically on high water temperature or low oil pressure, and a starter safety system prevents the starter engaging again once the engine is running.
• Covers over the engine cooling fan and the generator make operation safer.
• Oil, fuel, cooling water and battery levels are all checked from one side of the set, and the controls are centrally located.
• A large sump allows 200 hour oil change intervals, and double element air cleaners suit dusty or sandy sites.
• Direct coupling of the alternator to the engine gives a compact design with no drive belt to adjust.
• A larger radiator, an oversize muffler, a lower fan speed and a matched air cleaner hose are used to keep operating noise down.

Fuel use is 2.4 L/h at full load, which gives about 12 hours of running at full load. Noise is 65 dB(A) at 7 m. Two 15A receptacles (IP66 rated) are fitted. The base has forklift openings, and the set has a one point lifting eye.

What it will run

At 5.5kW the set supplies 22.9A at 240V. That typically covers site lighting, small pumps, power tools, site office circuits and a workshop or shed, provided the combined load stays within the rating. Starting current for motors can be several times their running current, so leave headroom for the largest one, and check each appliance's compliance plate for its running and starting figures.
