The Hyundai HY4100L is a 4kVA (2.8kW) single phase petrol generator powered by the Hyundai HY420 engine. It is a conventional open-frame generator for trade, property and backup work, pairing a 15 litre fuel tank with a run time of up to 15.6 hours at 50% load.

What it will run

With 2.8kW to work with, the HY4100L typically runs a fridge and freezer together with lights, a TV and phone chargers during an outage, or one larger power tool such as a circular saw, drop saw or angle grinder on site, with smaller tools and lighting alongside. Electric motors in pumps, compressors and fridges draw several times their running current at start-up, so start the largest motor load first and leave headroom. Kettles, heaters and air conditioners eat into the output quickly. Always check the rating plate on each appliance and keep the combined running load within 2.8kW.

The HY4100L suits the work petrol generators are actually bought for: running tools on a block before the power is connected, keeping the fridge, freezer and lights on through a blackout, driving a transfer pump or small water pump around the property, and powering a market stall, community event or campsite setup.
