The MaxWatt MX3500iSR is a recoil start petrol inverter generator rated at 3000W, with a 3500W maximum (4.2kVA). A 145cc 4-stroke air-cooled engine runs at variable speed behind a single phase, 240V, 50Hz output.

Key features

Inverter output suits sensitive electronics such as laptops, TVs and phone chargers.

Recoil start needs no battery, so there is nothing to keep charged between uses.
The 145cc engine is air-cooled, so there is no radiator or coolant to top up.

The 4.2 litre tank runs the engine for 4 hours at 50% load and 2.5 hours at 100% load, which works out to about 1.05 litres an hour at half load and 1.7 litres an hour at full load.

What it will run

At 3000W rated, the MX3500iSR typically runs a fridge, lights, a TV, fans and chargers together, with a power tool or a small pump on top, provided the running total stays within the rated figure. Treat the 3500W maximum as headroom for short peaks. Motors in fridges, pumps, compressors and air conditioners draw a larger surge at start-up, so check each appliance's compliance plate for rated watts or amps and allow extra capacity. It is a single phase generator, so it will not run three phase equipment. Backing up a home means an inlet and changeover switch installed by a licensed electrician.
