22kVA ABLE Diesel Generator FS22X3

The FS22X3 is a three phase diesel generator producing 415V at 50Hz with a power factor of 0.8. It is powered by a FAWDE 4DW91-29D, a four-cylinder, water-cooled diesel running at 1500 rpm, and drives a four-pole brushless synchronous alternator with AVR. Electric start is 12 volt and the battery is included. Protection is an IP67-enclosed RCD plus over current protection.

Key features

• The alternator is brushless with IP23 protection, so there are no brushes to wear, and its AVR holds the output voltage steady as the load changes.
• Remote start is available through the two-wire input on the ComAp AMF20 controller, which an external switch or controller can operate.
• One 32A and one 20A three phase outlet and two 15A single phase outlets are rated IP66 (dust tight and protected against powerful water jets), and hardwire terminals are fitted for a fixed connection.
• The canopy locks and is sound deadened, finished in a weather-resistant powder coat with stainless steel fittings.
• Mine site ready bunding is in the specification, so fuel spills stay contained on sites that need it.
• Ambient temperatures from -25°C to 50°C are specified, with a coolant heater needed below 5°C, which covers hot sites as well as cold starts.

What it will run

The FS22X3 is a three phase set for farms, workshops and commercial sites, so frame the choice around the machines that need to start rather than single appliances. Typically it suits irrigation pumps, cool rooms, workshop machines and processing equipment. At a power factor of 0.8, add up the loads in kW as well as kVA. Large motors should start first, with other loads added afterwards, since motors draw several times their running current as they start. Spread the load evenly across the three phases. Use the compliance plate on each machine to find its running and starting power. An electrician should assess the site load before the set is specified, and connection to a switchboard should be made by a licensed electrician.
