2200kVA Cummins Diesel Generator GC2200S

The GC2200S is a three phase diesel generator rated at 2000 kVA (1600 kW) Prime Power and 2200 kVA (1760 kW) Standby Power at 415V and 50Hz. It is built around a Cummins QSK60G17, a 16 cylinder turbocharged and aftercooled diesel running at 1500 rpm, with a Stamford Pi734G brushless alternator and an AVR.

Key features

• A bunded 2000 litre fuel tank gives a 6 hour run time at 75% load, which sets how often a long outage needs refuelling.
• The canopy is galvanised and powder-coated, a finish that resists corrosion.

What it will run

Standby Power of 2200 kVA works out at about 3060 A per phase at 415V, and Prime Power of 2000 kVA at about 2780 A. Use the Standby Power figure for emergency cover and the Prime Power figure for a set that will run regularly on a varying load. At this scale the site's load schedule drives the choice: the running load, the largest motors, how each one starts and the order in which loads come on. Motors can draw several times their running current as they start, and a soft starter or drive reduces that surge. Compliance plates give each machine's current. An engineer should assess the schedule, and a licensed electrician should design and install the connection to the site's switchgear, including any changeover or transfer arrangement.
