2.5kVA (2500W) Pramac Petrol Inverter Generator P3000i

The P3000i is a single phase petrol inverter generator rated COP 2.30kW and LTP (maximum) 2.50kW at 50Hz, with a power factor of 1. It is powered by a Pramac 165F-4, an air-cooled, single cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine of 149cm³, and it starts by recoil. An inverter generator regulates its output electronically, which keeps voltage and frequency steady for sensitive electronics.

Key features

• POWERRUSH raises the available current above the rated output when electric motors start, which gives pumps, fridges and power tools the extra push they need to get going.
• An economiser is standard, so the engine speed can follow the load and save fuel when demand is light.
• A USB outlet on the panel handles phone or tablet charging.
• Parallel kit receptacles are fitted as standard, ready for a parallel kit if you want to link two sets for more output.
• Oil Guard low oil level protection, plus overload, overvoltage and overtemperature protection, guard the engine and whatever is plugged in.
• The control panel is rated IP44, which protects it against small solid objects and splashing water.
• Manual start and stop with a recoil starter means there is no starting battery to keep charged.

The 4 litre tank gives 3.5 hours at 75% load, using 1.14L/h. Noise is 61 dB(A) at 7 m.

What it will run

At the 2.30kW COP rating the P3000i supplies about 9.6A at 240V (2.3kW / 240V, approximate), and at the 2.50kW LTP maximum it supplies about 10.4A. Size the set against the COP rating and treat the LTP figure as the maximum. That typically covers lights, phone and laptop chargers, a TV, a fridge and small power tools, as long as the motors are not all starting at once. Motors in fridges, pumps and power tools draw several times their running current at start, so size against your largest motor first. Check the compliance plate on each appliance for its running and starting figures, then add them up. Run a petrol generator outdoors in open air with plenty of ventilation. To power circuits at home, have a licensed electrician install an inlet and changeover switch, and never plug a generator into a power point. Send us your load list and we will help you size it.

The P3000i suits camping and caravan trips, market stalls and outdoor events, small trade jobs and backup for a few essential circuits at home.
