The Briggs & Stratton P2500 is a single phase petrol inverter generator with a maximum output of 2.5kVA (2500W), driven by a Briggs & Stratton OHV engine.

Key features

  • Inverter output is produced electronically, which suits sensitive electronics such as phones, laptops and TVs.
  • A maximum output of 2.5kVA (2500W) is enough for a handful of everyday loads at once, so long as their total stays within the output.
  • The OHV (overhead valve) layout puts the engine's valves in the cylinder head, a design used across modern small petrol engines.
  • A 3.8 litre fuel tank lets a light load run a long stretch between refills.
  • Single phase output suits ordinary household and caravan appliances, but not three phase equipment.

At 25% load the P2500 runs for up to 8 hours on a full tank. Fuel use rises with load, so a heavier load shortens that time and a lighter one extends it.

What it will run

At 2.5kVA (2500W) maximum, the P2500 typically runs lights, phone and laptop chargers, a TV, fans and a fridge, with the combined load kept within the output. At 2500W the current is about 10.4A at 240V, so add up what you want running at once and leave some headroom. Motors in air conditioners, pumps, compressors and power tools draw a much larger surge when they start, and fridges and freezers draw extra at start-up too, so read each appliance's compliance plate for its running and starting figures and allow extra for anything with a motor. Backing up a home means an inlet and changeover switch installed by a licensed electrician. Send us your load list and we will help you size the generator.

The P2500 suits camping, caravanning and touring, market stalls and outdoor events, and can keep a few home essentials such as lights, a fridge and phone chargers running through an outage.
