The GC130S is a Cummins-powered three phase diesel generator set rated at 130kVA (104kW) prime and 143kVA (114kW) standby at 415V and 50Hz. Perkins power comes as the GP130S; the figures here are for the Cummins GC130S. The engine is a Cummins 6BTAA5.9-G2, a six cylinder, 5.9 litre turbocharged and aftercooled diesel running at 1500rpm with an electronic governor, and the alternator is a brushless Stamford UCI274E with AVR. A Deep Sea 7420 MKII controller and a four pole circuit breaker handle control and output.

Key features

  • The silenced canopy is rated at 71.5 dB(A) at 7 m, which gives you a measured figure for site noise planning.
  • A 620 litre bunded tank gives about 27 hours of running at 75% load between fills.
  • Turbocharging and aftercooling put more air into the cylinders, which lifts the power available from 5.9 litres.
  • Harmonic distortion below 5% from the Stamford alternator suits electronic equipment as well as motors.
  • A heavy-duty skid base with fork pockets allows forklift handling, and the galvanised powder-coated canopy resists corrosion.
  • A battery charger and isolator keep the starting battery charged and allow it to be isolated for servicing.
  • The four pole circuit breaker switches the three phases and neutral together.

Consumption is 30 litres an hour at 100% load, 23 at 75% load and 16 at 50% load, so the tank gives about 21 hours at full load. Oil capacity is 14.2 litres and coolant capacity is 34 litres.

What it will run

At 130kVA prime and 143kVA standby, the GC130S typically suits larger workshops, farms, pumping stations, construction sites and commercial buildings, with a mix of motors, lighting, refrigeration and air conditioning on three phase. Start with the largest motor: its starting current, found from the compliance plate, often decides the size of set. Standby power (ESP) is an emergency supply at an average load factor of 85%, with no overload capability and a limit of 400 hours a year. Prime power (PRP) is continuous operation at variable load for unlimited hours a year at an average load factor of 75%, with 10% overload for 1 hour in 12. Have an electrician or engineer assess the site's load schedule before the set is specified, and send us your load list for sizing help.

The GC130S suits industrial and commercial sites, farms, civil and construction projects and pumping stations that need three phase standby or site power.
