11kVA ABLE Yanmar Diesel Generator FP11YS

The FP11YS is an 11kVA single phase diesel generator rated 10kVA (10kW) prime and 11kVA (11kW) standby at 240V, 50Hz and a power factor of 1.0. It is powered by a Yanmar 3TNV88-GGE, a three cylinder, water-cooled diesel running at 1500 rpm, and drives a Stamford four-pole brushless alternator with AVR. It has 12 volt electric start with the battery included, plus an IP67-enclosed RCD and over current protection.

Key features

• The Stamford alternator is brushless, so there are no brushes to wear, and its AVR holds the output voltage steady as the load changes.
• The ComAp AMF20 controller has a two-wire remote start input, so an external switch or controller can start the set.
• Three 15A outlets and one 32A outlet are rated IP66 (dust tight and protected against powerful water jets), and hardwire terminals are fitted for a fixed connection.
• A lock on the canopy restricts access to the set, and the canopy is sound deadened, with a weather-resistant powder coat and stainless steel fittings.
• The mine spec includes mine site ready bunding for containing fuel spills.

At prime load the set uses 2.7 litres an hour, so the 65 litre tank gives about 24 hours of running. Noise is 60 dB(A) at 7 m.

What it will run

At 10kW prime the FP11YS supplies about 42A at 240V. Typically that suits a workshop, a farm with pumps and power tools, or the essential circuits of a home: lighting, fridges and freezers, a pressure pump and an air conditioner. Allow for starting surges: a motor in a pump, compressor or air conditioner can draw several times its running current when it starts, so leave headroom for the largest. Add up the running and starting power shown on each appliance's compliance plate. For home backup, connection is through an inlet and changeover switch installed by a licensed electrician.
