110kVA Cummins Diesel Generator C110D5

The Cummins C110 D5 is a 50Hz three phase diesel generator set rated at 110kVA (88kW) standby and 100kVA (80kW) prime at 415V. It is powered by the Cummins 6BTA5.9 G5, an in-line six cylinder, turbocharged and after cooled diesel running at 1500 rpm under an electronic governor, and it drives a Stamford alternator with a wye connected output. Starting is on a 12V DC system.

• The set carries both a standby and a prime rating, so it can be specified for emergency backup or for running under a variable load.
• Turbocharging and after cooling pack more air into the in-line six cylinder 6BTA5.9 G5, which has a gross output of 102 kWm at standby and 93 kWm at prime.

What it will run

At 110kVA standby, the C110 D5 typically suits the essential circuits of a commercial or light industrial site: lighting, pumps, refrigeration, workshop machinery and IT equipment. Size it from the real load, not the nameplate alone. Motors, compressors and air conditioners can draw several times their running current as they start, so the largest motor on site often sets the minimum size, and a soft starter or drive can reduce that peak. Spread the load evenly across the three phases and check the compliance plate on each machine. An engineer should assess the site's load schedule, and any connection to the switchboard must go through a changeover or transfer switch installed by a licensed electrician.
