10kVA ABLE Diesel Generator PL9D1

The PL9D1 is a 10kVA single phase diesel generator rated 9kVA (9kW) prime (PRP) and 10kVA (10kW) standby (ESP) at 240V, 50Hz and a power factor of 1.0. It is powered by a YangDong YD385D, a three cylinder, water-cooled diesel running at 1500 rpm, driving a four-pole brushless alternator with AVR. Starting is electric at 12 volts with the battery included, and protection is an IP67-enclosed RCD plus over current protection.

Key features

• The YD385D is naturally aspirated with direct injection and a mechanical governor, so there is no turbocharger to maintain and engine speed is held at 1500 rpm.
• The alternator has 100% copper windings, class H insulation and voltage regulation of ±0.5%, which keeps the output voltage steady as the load changes.
• The ComAp AMF controller has a two-wire remote start input, so an external switch or controller can start the set.
• The canopy locks, is sound deadened to cut engine noise, and has a weather-resistant powder coat with stainless steel fittings.
• Mine site ready bunding is part of the specification, for sites that need fuel spills contained.
• Operating conditions are specified from -25°C to 45°C ambient (a coolant heater is needed below 5°C), with humidity below 80% and altitude below 1000 m, so you can check them against your site.

The tank holds 70 litres. Outlets are 3 x 15A and 1 x 32A, with hardwire terminals for a fixed connection. Noise is about 65 dB(A) at 7 m. Design standards are CE, ISO 8528-5:2005, AS 3000-2018 and AS 3010-2017.

What it will run

At 240V the prime rating works out to about 37.5A. Typically that covers lighting, fridges and freezers, a bore or pressure pump, power tools and a split-system air conditioner, as long as the starting loads do not all arrive at once. Pumps, compressors and air conditioners draw several times their running current as they start, so leave headroom for your largest motor. Read each appliance's running and starting power from its compliance plate, then add them up. Size against the prime rating if the set will run regularly: prime allows unlimited annual hours on a variable load, with 10% overload for 1 hour in every 12, while standby is limited to 500 hours a year, with no overload. A home backup connection goes through an inlet and changeover switch installed by a licensed electrician. Send us your load list and we will work through the sizing with you.
