10.8kVA (9000W) Welling & Crossley Petrol Inverter Generator WC-P9000Si

The Welling & Crossley WC-P9000Si is an enclosed petrol inverter generator rated at 10.8kVA, producing 9000W maximum and 8200W rated pure sine wave output at 230/240V, 50Hz, single phase. It runs on the Euro 5 compliant WC-460B 4 stroke OHV air cooled engine and starts by recoil, electric, 2-wire or remote start.

Key features

• 8200W rated pure sine wave output: inverter quality power at a capacity suited to home backup and work.
• Enclosed inverter design: rated at 64 dBA at 7 m.
• Electric and remote start: start at the panel or remotely, with recoil as a backup.
• 2-wire start: can be wired to a compatible automatic transfer switch to start when mains power fails.
• Three IP66 power outlets: 2 x 15 Amp plus 1 x 32 Amp for heavier single loads or a correctly installed generator inlet.
• USB-C and USB-A ports: device charging straight from the panel.
• 27 L fuel tank: a rated 18 hours at 1/4 load between refills.

Fuel consumption is 1.45 L/hr at 1/4 load from the 27 L tank, for a rated run time of 18 hours at that load. Noise is rated at 64 dBA at 7 m. Outlets are 2 x IP66 15 Amp, 1 x IP66 32 Amp, 1 x USB Type C (15W) and 1 x USB Type A (18W).

What it will run

At 8200W rated the WC-P9000Si delivers roughly 34 A at 240V (approximate) in total, with each 15 Amp outlet limited to 15 A. In a blackout that is typically enough for refrigeration, lights, TV and internet, a microwave or kettle and some air conditioning together. On a job or in a food van it typically covers cooking equipment, coffee machines and power tools within that total. Motors draw a surge at start-up, so start the largest load first and keep a margin. Check appliance plates and add up running watts before connecting.

The WC-P9000Si takes inverter power beyond touring into home backup, food vans, mobile businesses and work duty, running sensitive equipment that needs both quantity and quality of power. Home connection must be through an inlet and changeover switch installed by a licensed electrician. For an open frame inverter at the same maximum output, compare the WC-P11250i.
