1100kVA Cummins or Perkins Diesel Generator GC1000S / GP1000S

The GC1000S is a Cummins-powered three phase diesel generator set rated at 1000kVA (800kW) prime and 1100kVA (880kW) standby at 415V and 50Hz. Perkins power comes as the GP1000S; the figures here are for the Cummins GC1000S. Its engine is a Cummins KTA38G5, a 12 cylinder, 37.8 litre turbocharged and aftercooled diesel running at 1500rpm with an electronic governor, driving a brushless Stamford S6L1D-H alternator with AVR. A Deep Sea 8610 MKII synchronising controller and a four pole circuit breaker handle control and output.

Key features

At full load the engine uses 201 litres an hour, falling to 145 at 75% load and 109 at 50% load, so the day tank gives about 5 hours at full load. Oil capacity is 135 litres and coolant capacity is 199 litres.

What it will run

At 1000kVA prime and 1100kVA standby (800kW and 880kW), the GC1000S is sized from the site's load schedule rather than from individual appliances. It typically suits large industrial plant, processing lines, pumping stations and commercial buildings on three phase 415V. An electrician or engineer should assess the site's loads, including the starting current of the largest motors and any step loads, before the set is specified. Prime power (PRP) is continuous operation at variable load for unlimited hours a year, with an average load factor of 75% and 10% overload for 1 hour in 12.
