Together: fine
  • ✓One deep fryer
  • ✓Fridge and freezer
  • ✓Lights, fan, pump, EFTPOS
  • ✓Contact grill while the fryer's off and the griddle's on gas
Together: no
  • ✗Fryer and electric griddle together
  • ✗Fryer, griddle and contact grill together

Griddle on gas fixes the first one. Check every plate: 15A plugs need a 15A outlet, and a standard power point is only 10A.

Numbers

Fryer, fridge and freezer: about 4,945W, 55 per cent of the HY10000iSE's 9,000W rating. Fryer and electric griddle: about 8,395W, 93 per cent. We keep it under 80 per cent, the most Queensland's Electrical Safety Office recommends for continuous running.

Safety checks

  • ✓Generator outside, on dry ground, out of reach of the public, a metre clear all round.
  • ✓Exhaust away from the serving window, doors, windows and vents. Never inside or enclosed: carbon monoxide.
  • ✓Refuel cold, engine off.
  • ✓RCD (safety switch) protection on the switchboard, set up to suit your generator by a licensed electrician.
  • ✓Leads rated for the outlet they plug into. Leads and appliances tested and tagged.
