A 2kVA Hyundai HY2000Si petrol inverter generator and a Hyundai HYPS2400 portable power station, sold together. The HY2000Si gives up to 2,000W of pure sine wave power from a 3.8 litre tank. The HYPS2400 adds 2,400W of pure sine wave power from an 1,843Wh LiFePO4 battery.
The pair gets around the kettle problem. Most kettles draw more than a 2kVA inverter can supply, but only for a few minutes, so let the HYPS2400 run them, along with other short jobs like the toaster (check the label: up to 2,400W). The HY2000Si runs the fridge and lights and recharges the power station between the big jobs, so you aren't burning fuel in a generator sized for the kettle. At night, switch the generator off and the HYPS2400 keeps the essentials going quietly. It also switches to battery in 10ms or less if the mains drops.
It suits blackout backup at home, caravans and campsites, and holiday houses with close neighbours. Together they cost $100 less than buying the HY2000Si and the HYPS2400 separately, and both are listed on their own too.
